Minimally Invasive & Endoscopic Brain Surgery in Mumbai

Advanced "Keyhole" Neurosurgery for Pituitary Tumors and Hydrocephalus.

Services Main Inner - Hero

Dr. Rahul Chhajed utilizes state-of-the-art endoscopic techniques to treat complex brain conditions through natural pathways like the nose, avoiding large incisions and ensuring rapid recovery.

What is Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery?

Traditionally, brain surgery required a large opening in the skull (Craniotomy). However, with advancements in technology, many conditions can now be treated using Minimally Invasive or Endoscopic techniques.

Dr. Rahul Chhajed uses high-definition Endoscopes (thin cameras) to reach deep areas of the brain through tiny openings or natural corridors like the nasal passage. This approach, often called "Keyhole Surgery," minimizes damage to healthy brain tissue, results in little to no visible scarring, and significantly reduces hospital stay.

Benefits of Endoscopic Brain Surgery

Specialized Endoscopic Procedures

Pituitary Tumor Surgery (Transsphenoidal)

The pituitary gland is located at the base of the skull, just behind the nose.

Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV)

Why Choose Dr. Rahul Chhajed?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Will my nose shape change after Pituitary surgery?

No. The surgery is performed deep inside the nasal cavity. There are no external cuts or bruises, and the shape of your nose remains exactly the same

2. Is ETV suitable for all Hydrocephalus patients?

No. ETV works best for “Obstructive Hydrocephalus” (where there is a blockage). Dr. Rahul will review your MRI scan to determine if you are a candidate for ETV or if a VP Shunt is better.

3. Is endoscopic surgery safer than open surgery?

For specific conditions like Pituitary tumors and intra-ventricular cysts, it is often safer because it avoids retracting (pulling) the brain tissue to reach the deep problem area.

4. How long does the surgery take?

Transsphenoidal surgery typically takes 2 to 3 hours. ETV is often shorter, taking about 45 to 90 minutes.
